Winter Solstice & Mindful Meditation

I would like to share with you a moment of gratitude that came about during my meditation-session; when I saw the suns most spectacular, glowing beam of light emanating through the window; which is the photo for this blog, I hope draws you in like it did for me.

December 21st, 2017, was the day of our winter solstice; where the shortest day and the longest night of the year, appear here in the Earths Northern Hemisphere.

The word “solstice comes from the Latin words ‘sol’ meaning ‘the sun’ and ‘sistere’ meaning ‘to make stand’, together it translates to “sun standing still.” On the December solstice, the sun’s daily southward movement in the sky appears to pause. Interesting, right?

Like the sun standing still, on this solstice day; I sat in meditation, with my senses on a high, yet set to a calming frequency, thanks to the help of my Neroli oil for relaxation and Rose oil for raising my energy level, with good vibrations. Becoming in tune with my body, and soul I turned my mind at the end of my session to focus on where I have been in 2017, to where I am going in 2018.

Last year, my mantra word that I chose was 'allow'. To allow my life to lead with light. To allow God to move me and mold me at his will. To allow the light that I have within me to be felt and seen by others around me.

This mindset-intention had served me because I feel I am a better parent...I might be a better wife, I am a better businesswoman, and our business is thriving simply because I allowed myself to be still and open; giving it the chance to come to me freely.

You see, in my life I am a "doer" and as a recovering perfectionist, I have to curb "getting it done" for allowing others to make mistakes, take responsibility and to let things go; even when I do not want to. I have allowed all that is "within me" into my life this year and am grateful for it.

As the new year 2018 rounds the corner, I ponder during the following week on my new word and what it will be. I will breathe it in and breathe out, I will love it and feel it deep in my soul.

What about you?

Do you have a vision for 2018 yet?

Namaste,
