Used since the 16th century in traditional health practices by the natives in north and northeastern Brazil, copaiba can help soothe anxious feelings, be applied to the skin to promote a clear, smooth complexion, support the health of the cardiovascular, immune, digestive, nervous, and respiratory systems.
All of those health benefits from a cannabinoid without the downsides of an unregulated CBD market!
How Do You Say Copaiba?
English speakers pronounce it co-pie-buh. Portuguese speakers pronounce it co-pa-ee-buh. No matter how you say it, you can still reap the benefits!
What Is A Cannabinoid (And How Does It Differ From Marijuana)?
A cannabinoid is any chemical compound that affects one or both types of cannabinoid receptors in the body (CB1 and CB2). The two receptor types can be found in many areas such as the brain, glands, immune cells, and other organs and tissues, and allow cannabinoids to interact with our bodily systems. CB1 receptors are found in our nervous system, connective tissue, organs, and glands. CB2 receptors are primarily found in the immune system.
3 Types of Cannabinoids
- CBD (cannabidiol) is naturally occurring in cannabis/hemp plants.
- THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) naturally occurs in cannabis. It is most known for its effects on giving a high or mind-altering effect when consuming marijuana (cannabis).
- BCP (beta-caryophyllene) is a dietary cannabinoid found in copaiba essential oil, sourced from 4 different Brazilian tree resins.
These three types of cannabinoids not only affect your body in different ways but are processed through the two receptors differently.
THC interacts with CB1 and gives psychotropic effects, while CBD and BCP interact with CB2. CBD interacts indirectly and with very low concentration while BCP (found in copaiba) interacts directly with the CB2 receptors and with high concentration levels.
Top Differences Between CBD and BCP Found In Copaiba
While CBD is all the rage right now, there is no common denominator among all the different CBD products on the market. From price to potency to drug (THC) free, you can't know if what you're getting is helpful or snake oil.
With copaiba, you don't have to worry about any of that. For starters, it's much less expensive, coming to just 19¢ US a drop. It is always 100% psychoactive drug-free (which
studies have found CBD has to contain to be most effective) and is 100% free of heavy metals, contaminants, and pesticides, backed by doTERRA's pledge of the highest purity.
When copaiba is used internally, it offers high levels of antioxidants, promotes healthy cell function, supports immune functions, supports circulatory health, and helps to support inflammation reduction in the body.
Overall, it helps to calm you down and smooth you out.Similar to frankincense, copaiba is critical to assist focus and clarity. For example, an athlete needs to be spot on with agility and hand-eye coordination. They could take a drop of copaiba into their hand, rub their hands together and massage it onto the back of their neck. Additionally, they could add one more drop and apply it across the forehead and on the temples to promote laser-focused hand-eye coordination.
Even if you don't need copaiba to support athletic performance, you can still use it to support your mind. If you experience nervous system issues, you can apply copaiba the same exact way.
There are many different ways to use copaiba essential oil in recipes. Here are my two favorites:
