Easy DIY - Grapefruit Bath Bomb

Looking for a super-simple, DIY project that is relaxing and fun at the same time? Enjoy the benefits of having a bath that is toxin-free and full of goodness for the body and the mind.

Why take the time to make your own bath bombs?

Bath bombs can come in all kinds of different smells and yes, they can look all cute and tempting to buy, but wait! Let’s think about this for a moment, our skin is like a sponge, right? So, why would we want to soak in a tub with ingredients like “red 28” or any other chemical that the products may contain? Often times these cute little balms and products like it, have ingredients in them that can’t even be pronounced right, or words most of us have never even heard of before. In my opinion, having a bath with those harmful things, just defeats the purpose of detoxifying our self’s, do you agree?

I get it, some of us like showers and some of us, like to take a long hot soak, to relax & unwind and many times, we decide we need to add a little Epsom salt to detoxify so, why would we want to soak in a tub with chemicals? Just saying.

I am going to share with you a healthier way to enjoy bath time, let’s jump right into it, by gathering these 9 simple ingredients.

Ingredients:

1 cup baking soda
½ cup citric acid (most health food stores will carry it)
2 Tbsp. Epsom salts
3 Tbsp. coconut oil – melted or
Fractionated Coconut Oil
1 Tbsp. beet juice (Organic is the best root ; )
4-6 drops
Grapefruit essential oil
2 drops
Lime essential oil (optional)
1 drop
Cypress essential oil (optional)
1 tsp. water – more may be needed

Instructions:

Combine together in a large bowl the baking soda, citric acid, and Epsom salts. Give that a good stir.

In a small bowl, combine the melted coconut oil, beet juice, and essential oil together.
Mix well with a rubber spatula.

Using a whisk, slowly combine the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.
*If mixed properly it should be crumbly in consistency.

Using a mold or ice cream scoop shape your bath bombs; if the mixture does not stick together without coming apart you may need to add some water to the mixture adding 1 Tsp. at a time slowly until desired consistency.

Allow to dry overnight or for at least 12 hours.

Drop the bomb into a nice hot bath and let it fizz, while your skin soaks in the non-toxic suds and the up-lifting aromas fill the room giving you that perfect 'awhhhh, now this is the life' feeling.

Some of you may be asking, why beetroot juice? It is filled with vitamin C, manganese, fiber, folate, potassium, iron, and other beneficial compounds; beetroot juice is a full nutrient-packed super drink that will go great with your soothing bath.
